A blend can simplify handling for a workflow that already uses the components together, but it complicates lot documentation because the certificate must report identity and purity for each component separately. A laboratory should review the per-component documentation before treating a blend as equivalent to its parts.
What a blend simplifies
For a workflow that already uses two compounds in the same run, a single vial removes one reconstitution and one aliquoting step. It is a handling convenience, not an indication that the components are intended to produce any biological outcome together.
What a blend complicates documentationally
- The CoA must report identity by mass spectrometry for each peptide component
- The CoA must report HPLC purity with method context that resolves each component
- Net peptide content may be reported per component or as a total; the certificate should make this clear
- The lot identifier must cover the entire vial, not one component
Read the certificate component-by-component
A weaker blend certificate reports a single purity number and no per-component identity. A stronger blend certificate reports a separate identity and purity line for each peptide in the vial, with the lot tied to the whole vial.
Where a blend is being considered, the laboratory should review the per-component record before treating it as equivalent to the individual peptides.
