HPLC, or high-performance liquid chromatography, separates components in a sample so a laboratory can estimate the relative area of detected peaks. For research peptides, an HPLC purity percentage describes the chromatographic result under a stated method; it does not independently confirm sequence identity, sterility, endotoxin status, or performance in an assay.

How to read the headline result

A reported percentage is normally based on the relative area of the target peak and other detected peaks under the laboratory’s method. The number is meaningful only alongside the compound identity, chromatogram, method details, and lot information.

What HPLC can help assess

HPLC can help separate and quantify chromatographically distinct components. Depending on the method and reporting convention, it may help identify related impurities or degradation products that absorb at the selected detection wavelength.

What HPLC does not establish by itself

HPLC alone does not establish that the material has the intended molecular mass or sequence. It also does not automatically establish sterility, endotoxin level, residual-solvent status, net peptide content, or suitability for a specific laboratory model.

Record the compound name, lot identifier, testing laboratory, report date, method information, result, and any linked identity or contaminant tests. If a result is important to the experiment, the laboratory may require independent confirmation under its own quality system.
